HR and Games

Just like we all love stories, I am sure all of us love games as well. Remember when the movie Hunger Games came out, it was such a great hit.

Why do we love games?

It must be the fun and excitement associated with games that make it enticing. So, if it is exciting, fun and entertaining why not embrace it as a form of communication and engagement with our staff. Have you ever thought of incorporating a game at your next Town Hall meeting or at your orientation session?

How about a jigsaw puzzle incorporating the core values of your organisation at the Orientation session? Or designing a Monopoly style game with the corporation’s main offices representing the various stations and offices around the world. These games would make the sessions more interesting, entertaining and memorable for the participants, allowing them to remember the names and places of the organisation.

Similarly at the next Town Hall meeting, have a quiz show with teams from various departments competing for a prize. Besides testing their knowledge it also will develop a camaraderie among the staff in each department.

We need to be creative in HR to take advantage of these learning opportunities and make the best out of it to involve and engage the staff.
